It’s been almost 4months since I started working at my work. I experienced many kinds of work. Though this work is really special and different.
Do you know team Lab?
teamLab (f. 2001) is an art collective, interdisciplinary group of ultratechnologists whose collaborative practice seeks to navigate the confluence of art, science, technology, design and the natural world. Various specialists such as artists, programmers, engineers, CG animators, mathematicians and architects form teamLab.
teamLab aims to explore a new relationship between humans and nature, and between oneself and the world through art. Digital technology has allowed art to liberate itself from the physical and transcend boundaries. teamLab sees no boundary between humans and nature, and between oneself and the world; one is in the other and the other in one. Everything exists in a long, fragile yet miraculous, borderless continuity of life.
In Tokyo, two places are highly popular for people who love digital artwork (teamLab).
One is teamLab Borderless Odaiba, which is the most famous for having a “Forest of Lamps”. Why is this specific one? First of all, I want to tell you Japanese people love Disney. There is no doubt. You will understand if you actually see the people going to Tokyo Disney Land− There are not only kids but adults. My friends from the USA always wonder why even old people are going to Disney Land. They think Disney is only for kids because it is a “Dream World”.
Let’s take the topic back. One scene from the Disney movie of Tangled, heroine floats the lamp into the sky. This area’s landscape looks quite similar to it. However, as a rumor of the area, there is at least 30 mins long waiting line. Soon after you finally step into the area, you have only ONE minute to stay there. Actually, I have been there with my boyfriend and experienced only 1 minute there. I was so frustrated. I could not even take enough pictures. Maybe you should wait a little bit more if you want to visit here. It’s still crowded…
The other is teamLab Planets Tokyo. Since this building has some water areas, you should walk barefoot around. I would say the most famous area here is…
We call this image “fountain”. I want you to know that this area has a peeking time. When it reaches that time, carps start shining and swimming around people standing in the water. That is the best time to take a picture. When I took my international friends there, most of them said this area is the best. You need patience until the carps start shining!
I am not going to mention which teamLab place I am working at, but I have been there both as a customer. From my experience, I would like to recommend teamLab Planets Tokyo. Why? because Odaiba’s is still super crowded… If you really want to go there, you should visit on weekdays. It’s less crowded.
